Question: I hear that to make a snake gourd grow long, a small stone should be tied to its tip. Is this true?
It is not necessary to tie a stone to the tip of the snake gourd for it to grow long. If people do tie one, they often do it when the fruit is small. Subsequently, that part can be seen to have rotted away.
Snake gourd grows long due to its genetic characteristic. The ‘Kaumudi’ variety, which grows 5–6 feet long, and other green and white long-belted varieties that reach a length of three feet are all popular, and this is their genetic trait.
Alternatively, if you plant a variety that grows large, then isn’t it unnecessary to tie a stone to make it long? There are many varieties of snake gourd available in the agricultural field. One should select and grow the varieties they require.
No stone is needed for snake gourd to grow long.
Length is mainly a genetic trait of the variety.
Tying a stone when the fruit is small can cause that part to rot away.
Choose the snake gourd varieties you require for the desired fruit length.
