Article note: A device brought for soil testing. Low cost by a mother and son.
From Kunnamadathil, Tirur, Malappuram, a device that can determine the nutrients in soil within 2 minutes is being brought to the market. The article features Kavitha and son Arjun, with Susheela, and introduces the system named Sushie to farmers.
What are the ways to test soil? The agricultural assistant in every village has to take a soil sample, bring it to the Krishi Bhavan, where a part of it is taken, packed, and sent to a lab.
Depending on the rush, it can take weeks or even months for the results to arrive. There are farmers in our state who have waited so long that they no longer need the test results for the sample they provided. Now, all that can be forgotten.
9 elements can be detected, including calcium, potassium, sulfur, iron, copper, and zinc.
It can also determine the total available amount of nutrients in the soil.
The device measures electrical conductivity, using water mixed with soil.
It can also measure pH, helping farmers understand soil condition faster.

Without collecting a soil sample, its parameters can be checked on any terrain. Insert the two steel probes at the bottom end of the device into the soil, and the result will appear on the display within half a minute.
Steel probes are used to go deep into the soil and find the soil’s core. This engineered system provides these qualities, making it possible to check field conditions quickly instead of waiting weeks or months for lab results.
This is made possible through this device from Arjun, an Indian agricultural scientist. Fertilizer recommendations based on the test results are available from Govindi in Kottakkal. This system, named Sushie, is being introduced to farmers.
NutRE is mentioned with the device. Tuksago Finmex Inverse Private Limited, an agriculture group from Thiruvananthapuram, brought the device to India by combining it with the manufacturing technology of this Chinese device.

When various people like Dr. Anitha were ready to help, the Matsya device came about. This was Dr. Bhasha’s idea. When research began, the results were like many stories. After experiments conducted over many years, global trends were understood.
Farmers can know about the crops they select and the test results. Based on the soil’s nutrient quality, applying the right amount of fertilizer for each crop will be helpful for profitability.
A study by the Kerala Agricultural University had previously reported that the nitrogen level in the soil is very low. In terms of operational convenience, 80% of farmers are currently at the forefront.
This device costs 30,000 rupees and can be made available at a lower price through a Government of Kerala assistance scheme.
If benefits are not available from soil testing, probes for profile testing can be purchased. That is being made available, and they provide it.
